Dior Marilyn 751 Diorific Vernis ($26 for .4fl. oz./12mL) was originally released with 2012's Grand Bal Collection. It is presented in the same exquisite, charming miniature ornament style packaging as last year.

Marilyn is a blue red jelly/crelly with very, very slight, ultra-fine shimmer. The shimmer is almost imperceptible in the bottle and non-existent on the nails. It has a bit of a thinner, more fluid consistency, which didn't effect the application. Marilyn can be medium to deep in tone--depending on how many coats you apply. I used three coats for the swatches below--and there is still some slight VNL (visible nail line).

Marilyn isn't a unique or flashy polish. Instead it's one of those classic, timeless polishes that you will wear day in, day out, year after year. Marilyn will never go out of style or clash with your outfit. It reminds me of another "classic" red that I unexpectedly fell in love with this (almost) Holiday season--Chanel's Rouge Rubis. Though they have a similar formula--Rouge Rubis is a little bolder, brighter, while Marilyn is a little darker, bluer. However you choose your red, they are both so very perfect for the Holidays.
