What would the Holiday season be without a red nail polish? Even before I knew anything about makeup--I knew red nail polish during the Holidays was an instant classic. Even if I was only ten, and said polish was acquired at my local grocery store for 99¢. This season, Chanel has released a stunning new red Le Vernis that is already a crowd pleaser.

Rouge Rubis 677 Le Vernis ($27 for 13mL/.4fl. oz.) is a striking, rich, bright, vibrant red. Sabrina of The Beauty Look Book said it "glows." I hadn't yet tried it when I read her review--so I just looked at the bottle and thought to myself, it's just another red polish. She was right--it has a luminosity that has to be seen to be believed. It is completely neutral--leaning neither yellow or blue. A true red.

The formula on Rouge Rubis is ridiculous. Superb. Wonderful. Exceptional. It's just that good. It effortlessly glides across the nail. I could have gotten away with one coat, but I did two. You can see, that even with two coats, a slight VNL is still visible. The texture of Rouge Rubis is more of that of a crelly--neither a true jelly or a true creme, but rather a mixture of the two. If you only pick up one thing from Chanel's Nuit Infinie de Chanel Holiday 2013 Collection--make sure it's this. I'm not usually a red nail polish lover--but Rouge Rubis has made me a believer.
